The Meeting of the Minds (and the Paint)
The story begins in Throop, PA, at Commercial Paint Supply (CPS).
CPS was the brainchild of Steve and Jack. Steve had just wrapped up a massive, 23-year run as a Sherwin-Williams rep (yes, he has coatings running through his veins). He teamed up with Jack, who has been successfully running RSP Painting, a national commercial painting company, since 1999. Together, they opened CPS to be the ultimate hub for coating professionals.
Then, in walked Joe.
At the time, Joe was working as the facility maintenance manager for a local school and came into CPS to grab some standard supplies. But Joe wasn’t just any customer. Joe’s career started way back in 1987, working side-by-side with old-school, skilled stone masons. With nearly 40 years of heavy-duty construction project management under his belt, Joe knew exactly what kind of beating surfaces take—and he knew the industry was missing something big.
Over a few visits, Joe got to talking with Steve and Jack and pitched his ultimate dream: transitioning his decades of stone expertise into a revolutionary, permeable resin-bound aggregate overlay system.
Joe was so passionate, incredibly knowledgeable, and so deeply into the product’s potential that Steve and Jack realized they weren’t just looking at a customer—they were looking at the future of the industry. They pooled Joe’s lifetime of masonry expertise with Steve and Jack’s national coating experience, and Rockin’ Resin was born.
